I went to lunch with my friend the other day and as we were about to walk in the door she received a phone call. It was an important one and one that she had been waiting on – so it didn’t bug me to wait and be patient as she finished her business. I decided that I would stand perfectly still because I did not want any body language to give the perception that I was put out or put off, as I was not. However, I found it was difficult to stand motionless; to not rock back and forth or swing my purse. I even resisted walking about awhile. I focused on standing still and peacefully. I then allowed my mind to wander, thinking that with all the constant distraction in our lives today, how often do we take the time or are even able to stand perfectly still, quiet and just wait. Just listen.
The Bible tells us "to wait on the Lord" in Psalms 27:14. In Psalms 46:10 we are told to "be still and know that (He) is God". Yet, it is very hard to do that on a daily basis, and hard to remember to do it when we feel pressure from outside sources.
I have found that is very true in my real estate life. Many times we just have to wait on the right house to come on the market. Or sometimes we have to wait for the right buyer or any buyer. Timing of such matters are not always in our hands. In fact, they are rarely in our hands. Especially this time of year. We tend to want to change or fix things, which is sometimes needed and if so those tasks should be completed. However, sometimes we just need to stand. Stand and wait and listen. I have had many life lessons that have taught me to wait before speaking, to pause before reacting and to think before tasking. I have gotten so much better at it over the last couple of years.
I thought about this blog a full 2 weeks before sitting down to write it. I was thinking, "how can you compare these scriptures with waiting on the right buyer or in finding the perfect home for someone?" But asmy friend continued her important phone callthat day,I learned we need to include God’s wisdom in all that we do – and when we do we will be blessed.
Anyway, these are my thoughts for today.
If you are in need of a CMA on your property as you might be thinking the time for you to make a move is approaching, give me a call – I will be glad to help. We can look at the area and the market and then take the time to listen and wait – 2017 will be here soon.
