It’s been a long couple of weeks. It’s the end of the summer, during an election year. It’s been hot. It’s been just a long, and I’ll say it – a difficult summer. This morning I actually pulled the covers up over my head. Not to block out the light, but because I wanted to just hide for a while. Then I remembered that I had a couple of people depending on me today.
I get ask every couple of week how I like being a REALTOR. I love it. I do. But it is not for the faint of heart. It’s long hours, crazy schedules, showing in the rain or heat. It’s running home to change clothes midday because you got mud all over you or are dripping in perspiration from shooting photos outside. It’s the phone calls that make you rush out of a meeting. Or cancel plans because out-of-town clients are in only this weekend. It is a roller-coaster and the good news is I like the ride.
Shout out to my family as well, they have to love and understand the calling. It’s not about the freedom or the sale of a million homes. There haven’t been the perks and fabulous lifestyle that you see on HGTV.
I guess at this point I would like to say that I don’t do it for the ride, but I do. It’s that rush of getting it done. It’s the rush of thinking how are we going to get this to work out and then God steps in and handles it. It’s the funny story, the next day.
But really, more than that – it is the getting people home. Getting them in their first home or helping them sell their once dream home and downsizing as their kids have now flown from the nest. It’s the days that I help people who didn’t think they could purchase their own home right now. It’s when we sell a home so the dream of retiring somewhere cooler can be obtained.
I’m not trying to tell you I am a hero. Or that I am special in any way. I just wanted to, well; stop to remind myself on this ‘I wanted to pull the cover over my head because I am tired day’, that it’s the hunt for YOUR home that drives me. It gets me up. It gets me moving and keeps me moving. I’ll always work harder for someone else, to get them their dream.
Getting you HOME is where my HEART is…
