The fall weather is rolling in this week – of course I predict that summer will still try to chase old man winter away again – after all it is Texas. However, the leaves are falling, the weather is changing, the calendar says October and candy is already out for Halloween.
Speaking of the 31st – it’s the End of Day Light Savings Time.
Here are few important tasks that you can turn into a habits this time of year as we say goodbye to daylight savings time (besides replacing the batteries in your smoke detectors).
Clean your Dyers vents and ducts. Lent in your dryers duct, behind and under the dryer are often a source of home fires. You household vacuum can help with this task.
Clean your oven and get ready for holiday cooking. The self-cleaning function on your oven is a handy tool – HOWEVER, if you oven is older – you might want to only run the self-cleaning feature for ½ the time, it can be a common cause oven failure for older units. So check out your model and see if it is safe.
Replace all the filters in and around your home. Air conditioning, HEPA in your vacuum, water filter in your fridge.
Check the expiration dates on food items in your pantry, freezer and refrigerator. Toss it out if it is out of date, damaged. While you are in there take the time to clean the dust and crumbs – it builds up!
It is also a good time to check your medical supplies and toss out expired RX.
If your mattress is not a pillow top – this could be a good time to flip it or rotate it or both.
So enjoy - I hear that first pot of Chili for the season calling my name…
Of course if you would just rather move than do all the above - I will be happy to get you HOME - just give me a call it would be a treat!
