If you love your Wildcats (and we know you do), you are going to love all the new and exciting things happening for this district! Willis superintendent, Tim Harkrider, made a few special announcements last night at the Willis ISD Council Meeting that will change our schools in the near future.
Tim did a great job at showing the residents of Willis highlights of the changes that his committees are considering in the near future. Not set in stone, but close to the mortar drying- is a new CTE Center. This facility will give high school students an opportunity to obtain a trade before graduation. Willis High is already known for their welding program. Willis plans to add courses in cosmetology to their center along with many more. Willis also intends to build an AG Center near the new CTE Center. Students will have state of the art facilities to raise livestock, learn, and compete with this new facility.
Tim also talked about the state and school standards for testing. I was pleased to hear that year over year he has seen progress in the students. This district is making improvements in certain categories that even the states scores have dropped. Willis High is the leader in Montgomery County for dual classes offered. They offer more classes than any other high school in Montgomery County - now that's impressive!
I know that we all have school spirit and pride, but you've got to hand it to these Wildcats- they are making a mark!
